A four-hour hike to recce the region for myself. Along the way, I saw a giant forest ant ambling along the footpath. It has been about a couple of years or so since I last saw one, and it graciously allowed me to take a close-up shot of it as it continued to crawl along at a leisurely pace. I also saw banana plants and bamboo beside the trail in the Mandai forest area. There were ups and downs due to the hilly terrain, and twists and turns along the way, and I took a wrong turn a couple of times at some points, but fortunately the google map on my iPhone helped me to navigate my way safely. I also learnt to conserve the battery on my iPhone and only used it when checking emails, taking photos and finding directions using the google map. Overall, it is a good journey and the nature ramble experience itself is rewarding.
